New Year, New You: Living with Intention and Purpose
As another year comes to a close, we are given an opportune moment to pause and reflect—on what was, what is, and what will be—so we can move forward with intention and purpose.
Why is this important?
According to a 2014 study cited in Psychology Today, 91% of adults experience "purpose anxiety." A more recent 2023 statistic cited on insidehighered.com claims that 3 in 5 young adults lack life "meaning or purpose" altogether.
This is concerning when we consider the increasing rates of anxiety and depression among adults, as well as the correlating incidence of suicide.
Granted, we have all been guilty of going through the motions of daily life like worker ants, rarely stopping to consider whether we are truly fulfilled. Lacking purpose, however, signals a necessity to check in with ourselves to ensure we have meaning and purpose which align with what we truly want for ourselves and our lives.
So, let's do a quick evaluation right now.
➡️Ask yourself this one simple question:
What do I truly want my life to look like?
I'm not asking you what you "should" want or are capable of having right now. I'm asking you to imagine what your ideal life looks like, if there were no limitations or hindrances to having that life.
➡️Now, ask yourself:
What is in the way of me having or pursuing the life I desire?
Be honest with yourself now! Because your answer to this question is what's blocking you from what you really want. It's the thing you feel obligated to hold onto. It's something you tell yourself you can't say "no" to.
But guess what? You CAN!
💕You can have the life you've always dreamed of.
💕You can say "no" to whatever or WHOMever is standing in the way of what you really want.
💕You can choose to release yourself from an unfulfilling life by choosing YOU for once!
➡️The next question to ask yourself, then, is:
Am I willing to say "no" to whatever or whomever is in the way of what I really want so that I can truly be happy?
✨Your present and future are your choice. You can choose to move with intention and purpose towards what you truly want for yourself or to remain where you are complacently.
I felt like a worker ant for years. After asking myself this sequence of questions in a dark night of the soul moment of self-reflection, I foresaw a dream life I would have never imagined coming true. But I am living it now, just 5 years later; and it's even better than I had ever imagined.🥰
💖You can live your dream life, too. You just have to choose to, by choosing you.
